Gautham Buddha was born in Lumbini, Nepal. Buddha Purnima is one of the most important festivals of Buddhism. It is celebrated as the birthday of Buddha. Buddha was born 2600 years ago. His father was a king. Buddha loved animals. When Buddha was 16, he married Yashodhara. Buddha saw the four sights. They were an old man, a sick man, a dead man and a holy man with no home. Buddha left his home at the age of 29. When Buddha received enlightenment, he found the answer to his queries. He understood how to defeat suffering, it was called the four noble truths. Buddha did not know if he should teach others at first. Later, when he started teaching, he did not pretend to be god. He said he was just a man who had found the meaning of lift and that any person can also find the meaning of life. After teaching the four noble truths for 45 years, Gautam Buddha died at the age of 80. Gautam Buddha is known as the Light of Asia.
