Bhimsen Thapa
Bhimsen Thapa was the first Prime Minister of Nepal. He is one of the national heroes of Nepal. He helped a lot during his time period to solve Nepal’s problems. He was appointed Prime Minister by King Rana Bahadur Shah. When King Rana Bahadur Shah died, Bhimsen Thapa gained most of the power because he was the Prime Minister.
The king’s son, Girvanyuddha Bir Bikram Shah, became the next king. Since the king was still very young, Bhimsen Thapa had the authority to make decisions for the country. At that time, Britain thought Nepal was weak and attacked it. Bhimsen Thapa and his army fought fiercely against them. Even though Nepal lost the war, they showed great bravery.
Later, Bhimsen Thapa solved many social problems and strengthened the military by purchasing modern weapons. However, his enemies falsely accused him and put him in jail. He later died in prison.
