Some Facts of The Universe
We all have heard about the outer or inner space. Astronomy, the scientific study of celestial bodies and phenomena. It is as beautiful as it sounds. I have grown to connect with this study, this is a topic in which you know that no matter how much you discover, there are still things left to discover. A never ending thing. So here, I have brought up some interesting facts about the infinite space;
Did you know that when we observe space and tell the universe’s length or size, we only talk about the observable universe. I.e the universe whos’ light has reached us not the entire universe.
There are so many facts that somewhere along the way of trying to learn all, you loose track. Here are some more on surface facts that might catch your interest:
There are more stars in the universe than grains of sand on all the beaches on Earth.
The coldest place in the universe is the Boomerang Nebula, which is colder than the background glow from the Big Bang.
The Moon is the reason for Earth's tides and waves.
A day on Mercury lasts longer than its year.
The universe is estimated to be 13.8 billion years old, while Earth is only about 4.5 billion years old.
The universe is constantly expanding, which is why the observable universe is larger than what light has had time to travel to us, reaching an estimated 93 billion light-years in diameter.
There is no center to the universe.
Did you know that there exists celestial objects that appear not what our average concept beats, for example:
Some planets don’t orbit any star at all,(for example: OGLE-2016-BLG-1928 planet also known as a rogue planet.)
Some black holes shine brighter than whole galaxies. (for example: J2245+3743), for J2245+3743 this happened as a star ventured too close to the black hole, and it cause the blackhole to tear apart the star that caused a flare so bright it was observed here on Earth and declared to be the brightest a black hole has ever appeared.
Methuselah Star (HD 140283); This is the oldest star,astronomers estimate it to be 14.5 billion years old. Which would not make sense considering the age of the universe is 13.8 billion.Either we are wrong about the star;s age or… the whole universes’
PSR J1748−2446ad- It is a pulsar(formed from a collapsed core of a massive star that undergoes supernova explosion; type of neutron star) it spins716 times per second. This means that if it had any more mass then it would literally tear itself apart.
