Amethyst is a purple quartz .It is a variety of quartz from the quartz mineral family . Its color goes from pale purple to deep violet. It is the birth stone for February.It is a symbol for royalty in the 3000 BCE. It was also very popular in ancient Rome ,Egypt ,Greece .It was mostly popular for the Romans and Greeks. Amethyst was first found in France 25000 years ago and was found mined in Brazil, Sri Lanka and other countries. It is also believed that amethyst has incredible healing powers and can remove negative energy . Amethyst color comes from the iron in the crystal; the shade of color can also increase if it has more presence of natural radiation. The rarest shade of color for amethyst is called the Siberian color. The color of Amethyst can change if it's exposed to sunlight for a long time. This crystal also has various nicknames like Amey, Thyst, or the endearing Amethy .The name of Amethyst's name comes from the Greek word amethystos, which has the meaning of not drunk because it was believed to prevent intoxication. There are good sides of amethyst but there are a few believed curses as well like having deaths and failed careers . but defining this amethyst is known as the stone of peace.
