Rice
Paddy is a rice,
Which farmers call nice.
Animals like mice,
Also like this rice.
We eat rice today,
Then everyday.
Farmers like this day,
Asar fifteenth day.
This signals monsoon,
The rice’s coming soon.
The trucks are gonna vroom,
With the rice that’s coming soon.
With muddy feet they go,
To plant the seeds in a row.
They sing and laugh and play,
On this joyful farming day.
Dahi and chiura treat,
So yummy, soft, and sweet.
We sit down on the hay,
And eat it all the way.
The plough goes in the mud,
The field becomes a flood.
But farmers do not cry—
They love the high sky.
A time to sing and smile,
And dance in mud awhile.
Our hearts want to play,
On Asar Fifteenth Day!
