I spent my winter vacation having fun, learning about cultural values, and visiting some memorable and historic places. We moved from Kathmandu on Thursday after celebrating Maghe Sakranti with my family. From Kathmandu, we travelled to Butwal, Bhairahawa, and then Lumbini. I got a chance to visit Lumbini, the birthplace of Gautam Buddha, who taught peace, love, and kindness. Lumbini is a place recognized by UNESCO. I saw different and beautiful monasteries. We visited the China Gumba, Thailand Gumba, Germany Gumba, Myanmar Gumba, and Sri Lanka Gumba. These gumbas show the friendship between different countries and teach us about peace and harmony. We visited the Mayadevi Temple, where Lord Buddha was born. My mother showed me the footprint of Buddha. I also saw the pond where Queen Mayadevi took a bath before Lord Buddha was born. The Ashoka Pillar was built long ago to mark this holy place. The Sacred Garden is a calm place for walking and praying. The Eternal Peace Flame teaches us about peace. I really loved Lumbini, which reminds us to be kind, peaceful, and respectful to everyone.
