Problems

Problems are a common phenomenon faced in everyday life. I feel problems. I believe people often undermine and disregard problems for what they truly are. We see problems simply as faults. Let us look at this from another perspective; someone can be perfectly healthy or doing well. Yet, they will still have problems. Sometimes it may be pet peeves, and sometimes it may be unfulfilled goals. However, when the same person is sick or is met with a drastic circumstance, all of his problems will fade, only to leave one; recovering.

The same way, everyday we look at various things and call them problems regarding them as just negative. However, these problems aren’t there to only represent the bad. In fact, a problem is a sign that everything else is going right. After all, we usually only have one or a few problems at the end of the day.

When viewing a journey, people will think a journey without problems is good. Though, can a journey without problems even be called one? For example, let us take the case of a gambler. The gambler has spent all his life and money on betting games and one day passed away. When he reaches heaven, in front of him lies a casino machine. He pulls the lever, a lucky spin, and he wins. He is overjoyed, as he did it first try. He will continue to pull levers repeatedly, feeling fully content, until he decides to stop. After a dozen or two, the excitement will start to fade. The problem was winning a rare occurrence, but now that the issue is resolved, he ends up experiencing the opposite. Not having a problem is suffering. And has the gambler really reached heaven? Or has he reached a false promised paradise?

Likewise, one must acknowledge a problem. A problem causes change, adaptation, regret, and work. Without a problem, there will be no growth. Without a problem, there is no solution and neither is there a journey. The very embodiment of a problem is what gives life purpose. Through the application of this theory, many problems can be faced in life. However, there are exceptions to everything. Regarding this theory, one must learn not all problems of his knowledge are his own. Being reliant or reliable are situationally good; however, it is solemn we must remain that way. The core and root of the problem are what oneself must focus on. For, if one man attempts to carry the burdens of the world, he will find himself ennuied or incapable of eureka and catharsis, such as Sisyphus.

Forevermore it will remain imperative that, just like the problem, there will never be a straight and flawless answer to a moral/dilemma-like topic such as this. Thus, to my conclusion, problems are not to be taken negatively, but to be taken as a sign and possibility of change and improvement. The regret that causes problems should not be a burden to bear, for the very rise of regret is the sign of change which makes one wish to have changed their course. One must be resilient and adaptive, all the while focusing on themself and the root of the problem. And sometimes, it is right to turn the other cheek, just as the verses and the teachings of the three wise monkeys have shown us.
