Dashain is the most popular festival of Nepal. It is celebrated for 15 days. There are different forms of Durga that we worship during Dashain. Ghatasthapana is the first day of Navaratri. On this day, we sow the seeds of barley and wheat. These grow into Jamara, which is offered as a blessing on the day of Tika.

The seventh day of Dashain is called Fulpati. Fulpati from Gorkha is transported to the Hanuman Dhoka Palace in Kathmandu. A gun salute is done on Fulpati at Tundikhel.

The eighth day is Maha Ashtami. On this day, Kumari Puja is done, where young girls are worshipped as Goddess Durga.

The ninth day is Nawami, when the Taleju temple is opened to the public.

On Vijaya Dashami, we wear tika from our elders and receive blessings. We also wear new clothes. We go to our mamaghar, eat delicious food, and have fun. Sometimes we go to new places or outside the valley. We can also play on swings and fly kites during Dashain. We visit different temples of Durga. Sometimes we also meet our friends during the long holiday of Dashain.
