Summary: Frankenstein is a story about a man-made human. At the beginning the author describes his family. He was the first child of his parents. He lived with his family in Geneva. When he was 5 years old, his mother wanted a daughter. They had to adopt a daughter with golden hair from a peasant. He was a science student and was really interested in human beings. He thought of making his own living being that can actually survive and show the human characteristics. He knew it wouldn't be as easy as he thought. He did his best to make one. At the beginning he started to collect the organs. He had his laboratory where he was working with his human. To collect the human organs, he visited his nearest grave and started to collect fresh organs. He collected the organs of the latest dead people. He slowly connected the organs and made the body. When he finished making the body, he waited for the main part, the head. Since he wanted his human to be really attractive, he went and took the head of a handsome guy from his grave. He connected the head to the rest of the body. He used batteries and pipes for the blood circulation on the human body. To his surprise, the human’s blood vessel started to work and blood passed through it. The human awoke. The robot human was named Frankenstein. Even though he took the head from a really handsome man the robot was really unattractive and looked like a monster. Victor himself got scared of his creation and ran out of the room. Frankenstein was new to the world. He wanted to explore the new world. He went to some places and met some people. Everyone got scared of his looks and they started to chase and attack him. He was amazed by the peoples’ behaviour. He unknowingly and unwillingly caused chaos at each place he went. Victor felt guilty for his own work. He wanted to amaze the world by making an artificial human, but that caused trouble to most of the people. Frankenstein really wanted to be loved and accepted by society. Even his creator didn't want him and thought of getting rid of him. Frankenstein was really angry with his creator and decided to kill him. He chased his owner at many places. They finally reached a place fully covered with snow. Victor died there due to the loss of his energy and the environmental conditions. Frankenstein felt guilty for his actions. He actually killed the one who brought him to this world. He was not able to accept his actions, so he went away and never showed up. Critical Analysis: The book Frankenstein by Mary Shelly is a Story about creating and the responsibilities of a creator. This story contains a scientist named Victor who wanted to create his own living human, a living creature but was not ready to face the bad consequences after his actions. He made a creature( A living human) but abandoned it just because he was scared of it. The story is trying to show that knowledge without care can be really harmful to us. The created human robot, Frankenstein was not actually made evil, it became aggressive and evil all because of the rejection and the bad behaviours towards him by the society. The writer is trying to show how people judge others just by their looks, without knowing their actual character. The English phrase “Don’t judge a book by its cover” is trying to be explained in this story. The story teaches us that we should not play with nature and do unnatural things just because we are willing to. We can take the example of Victor who got damaged and became the reason for his family to be damaged just by his obsession with creating a human. Recommendation: I recommend this book because it is a really interesting book to science friction lovers. This book gives good information about how we should not judge others just by their looks and how playing with nature and doing unnatural things can damage ourselves and others. This book also explains about responsibilities, creation and creativity.
