Mr. Fogg was a quiet and extremely accurate person. He fired a servant who gave him water that was 2 degrees colder than expected, and soon after, another servant came to Fogg's house, who also had to follow a strict routine. One day, Fogg went to the Reform Club and made a bet of 20,000 pounds that he could travel around the world in 80 days. That very day, he came home early and told his servant, Passepartout, to pack. Their first destination was San Francisco. In San Francisco, they were followed by a detective named Mr. Fix, who believed Fogg was a thief. They took a train to San Francisco, then travelled to London, where they had their passports stamped before continuing their journey to Bombay. In Bombay, they witnessed a princess about to be sacrificed, and Fogg saved Princess Aouda. Soon after, however, they were caught by Fix, who took them to jail. Fogg paid to get out, and they continued their journey to Hong Kong. In Hong Kong, Aouda's cousin had moved to another country, and Aouda fell in love with Fogg. However, in Hong Kong, Fogg was arrested, and he thought he would lose the bet. At home, everyone was waiting for Fogg’s return. He was released from jail and made it home just in time, winning the bet.
