Winter Trip: My Experience
I went to Pokhara with my friends and teachers, and honestly, it already felt like the start of a legendary adventure. First, we traveled by bus. I slept for four whole hours, which was amazing because everyone else was busy screaming, eating chips, and telling dramatic life stories. After waking up, I spent the rest of the journey talking, laughing, and wondering when we would finally reach Pokhara.
After reaching Kalabang Ghaderi, we ate popcorn and drank green tea while enjoying the fresh mountain air. I felt like a peaceful old monk, except less wise and hungrier. In the evening, we had a campfire and everyone danced like their shoes were on fire. The teachers probably regretted giving us sugar, but we had a blast! After we were done dancing our souls out, we finally went to sleep.
The next morning, we woke up at 5:30 a.m. (painful, but necessary) and drank black tea to survive. Then we went to the Kalabang Ghaderi Buddha Park, where we witnessed a stunning sunrise and Machhapuchhre Himal shining like it was posing for a movie poster. After that, we visited Amrit Gurung’s house (yes, the legend!) and a 110-year-old house that looked like it had seen more history than our history textbooks. We went back to the homestay, packed our things, and hopped on the bus again.
On the way, we stopped at a government school that was run by the Kalabang homestay people, which was really inspiring. Then we saw a coffee plantation (which made all the coffee lovers emotional), and visited Pumdikot, Devi’s Fall, and Mahendra Cave. The cave was dark, mysterious, and slightly scary, but we survived. Later, we went boating in Fewa Tal, where we pretended to be professional boat captains while secretly hoping the boat wouldn’t flip.
We stayed at Hotel Niwas. After resting for a while, we went out to buy souvenirs. We walked around Pokhara Valley, and everything was literally so beautiful that it felt like we were inside a travel vlog. We had dinner, enjoyed a barbecue, and then collapsed into bed like tired potatoes.
The next day, we woke up at 7 a.m., packed our bags, had breakfast, and went to Deerwalk Pokhara School. I played tag with my friends even though we were all running like newborn giraffes because we were so tired. After having lunch at Blue Heaven, we returned to Kathmandu and reached home at 6 p.m. I was exhausted, dusty, slightly sunburnt, and extremely happy.
This Grade 6 winter trip was honestly the BEST school trip I have ever had until now, and if future trips want to beat it, they better try really, really hard!
