FOOTBALL
Football is a sport centered around teamwork, where players primarily use their legs to play. There are eleven players on each team. While football was first played in England, many other countries now dominate the sport as well.
The rules of football are straightforward but strict. If a player touches the ball with their hands, it is a handball offense, which can result in a yellow card. Tackling an opponent too harshly or aggressively can result in a direct red card, while a less severe but still careless tackle might earn a yellow card instead. If a player receives a red card, they are immediately sent off the pitch and suspended from the following match.
There is only one position on the field allowed to touch the ball with their hands: the goalkeeper. Their main job is to defend the goal and stop the opposing team from scoring. Over the years, football has produced many legends, such as Pelé, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Neymar, who have achieved incredible success in their careers. Players have the opportunity to represent both their local football clubs such as Real Madrid, Liverpool, and Manchester City and their respective national teams.
Right now, in July 2026, FIFA is hosting the World Cup, co-hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada. Every World Cup brings unforgettable moments from the managers, players, and matches. Because of this incredible spirit and excitement, I highly encourage everyone to either play or watch football!
