The Cost of Becoming Better.
All of us want to improve ourselves in life; we want to achieve good grades, do well in sports, learn new things and succeed. However, improving ourselves is not as simple as it may appear since we have to give up a great many things and at times it can be tiring.
The first thing we need to abandon is comfort. Generally, people prefer carrying out activities which are easy and pleasant. If we wish to make progress, we cannot always choose to do so. For instance, if a student wants to get good grades they must study rather than always playing games or using their phone. It may be boring at times, but they still have to do it.
Failure also plays a role in improving ourselves since we won't be good at all things from the start. We can make mistakes even if we put in our best effort. There are times when failure may affect us and we might want to give up, but if we don't quit then we will certainly become better.
Our habits can also cause it to be difficult to make improvements since habits such as wasting time, being lazy and putting off things can prevent us from achieving our goals. It is not easy to change these habits because we are used to them and therefore have to make an effort in order to do so.
A further issue is how other people view us. There are instances when we attempt to improve that other people laugh at us and may believe that we are trying too hard or behaving differently. For this reason, a number of people give up. However, we should not cease to improve simply because of what other people say.
Improving yourself can be difficult and will take a while. You might have to give up some of your free time, deal with failure and change a number of your habits. It will not always be pleasant. Yet all of these things can help us to become better than we were before.
We don't have to be perfect, we only need to keep making small improvements. Although the process may be difficult, the effort we put in at the moment will be of benefit to us in the future. This is indeed the true cost of becoming better.
