Little Girl

In the eyes of others, she had lost it all,

They said she failed, had gone dismayed,

But all she saw was a little girl,

Dancing in the puddle filled with mud.

They said, “snatch the smile off her face”

“Steal her smile, it’s a sight of disgrace.”

But all she ever remembered was a curve of joy,

Chasing butterflies in the blue sky with grace.

They said, “She doesn't belong here”

“Take her away, she is not anyone’s dear.”

But all she ever wanted,

It was to be pure without fear.

They called her evil, a cursed mistake,

But her only wish was not to be fake.

To live freely with no judgment,

A life of her own with no tears.

They said just kill her, end her distress,

Her heart endured the sharpest strain.

She bowed and gave up on the chain,

She freed herself before they came.

She freed herself before they came.
