MISUSE OF SOCIAL MEDIA
The more social media we have, the more we think we are connecting with each other, but in reality, we are actually disconnecting from others. Using social media to hurt or destroy is a callous activity. Social media is an internet platform, widely spread among many countries, where people can create profiles, upload their videos , text, and have audio calls . Social media has both pros and cons, but here I am going to focus on the cons, encompassing how it affects people's lives.
Social media has become a necessity for people in this century. Not only adults but children too have become addicted and drawn to scrolling through social media. This has greatly affected children's studies, as they only look forward to engaging with social media. In fact, children shouldn't really have social media accounts and devices of their own ( education is an exception) until they reach the appropriate age. Social media drains their brains, making them overly attached to their devices .
Another significant con is that social media is the holy grail for scammers and cyberbullies . Imagine spreading negativity about another person while hiding behind a profile at the same unknown time. Outrageous, right? People comment on others ' videos, spreading negative statements about that person. This leaves them heartbroken and insecure about themselves. Unfortunately, some people enjoy doing this on the internet. Cyberbullying isn't something to do for fun or to appreciate; it is a cruel way to let someone down and make them unhappy. Scammers and hackers are also harmful people on the internet. Scammers unnecessarily increase payment amounts and steal our money. Hackers hack people's profiles, change their passwords , and upload controversial content on social media.
Many families have been unable to bond and socialize with each other as they are addicted to social media. Everyone with a phone in hand faces opposite directions and does not say a word about their day. In fact, this occurs in many households. Instead of participating in fun activities as a family, members claim to be "working" and "studying" on their devices . This breaks families apart -making them more attached to a screen with a display and electronic chips rather than to their own family. Whether it be TV, laptop , mobile phone, or tablet, social media is available, which makes it much easier to become addicted to it. So, this is why social media shouldn't be overused. Thank you!
